"We must reach out and give
nuestra gente a helping hand."

-ΦΛΡ

Each and every sister of Phi Lambda Rho comes from a distinct community where our family, our culture, and our values helped shape us into the strong women that we are today. We are forever grateful for the struggles that our parents, grandparents, and family have encountered and overcome, for the lessons they have learned and have passed on to us, and for the opportunities that we have as students, young women, and aspiring professionals.

For these reasons, each Rhosa continually strives to reach out to the community and give a helping hand to those in need. We recognize that with a little bit of perseverance, with dedication, and with hard work we can
sow the seeds for a better tomorrow.

"Phi Lambda Rho provided me with a positive space to expand and improve my leadership skills. It allowed me the opportunity to make life long friendships and maintain my enthusiasm to volunteer with under-resourced communities in Los Angeles."

Our national philatnthopy is "Manos Ayudando Manitas", which its purpose is to foster relationships with the youth in underrepresented communities by executing events that will emphasize the importance of education, health and cultural diversity. Examples include our annual Progreso Youth Conference (PYC), aimed at educating and empowering high school students, so that they can gain the confidence and the tools necessary for a smooth transition into college and Rho Christmas where sisters bring small school children onto the UCLA campus to give them a Christmas-filled day while simultaneosuly exposing them to the college environment.

Rhosas have also participated in the annual AIDS Walk in Los Angeles every year since Delta Chapter was founded in 2003. Sisters continue to serve the community by helping feed the homeless on Skid Row, assisting organizers at an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico, and by dedicating many hours to a myriad of other events near and outside the LA community.

The sisters of Phi Lambda Rho at Delta Chapter have organized a variety of events throughout the years, including beach clean-ups, interactive workshops with at-risk youth in near communities, etc. The opportunities for service are endless and every year presents a starting point for sisters to make a positive difference in their community.

"Phi Lambda Rho gave me the support, passion, and tools to succeed as a strong latina undergraduate at UCLA. With the professional & academic support from FLR I was able to gain internships in the legal field and graduate from UCLA.
I am now a law student studying in NY and I know that I am here today because of all that my sisters and organization have done for me. More than just a sorority FLR has become my family. I will always carry FLR in my heart and passionately continue to uphold its objectives."
